When we buy gold from our refiners, it comes in 'casting grain', or small pellets of gold. This makes sense - the gold is much easier to measure in small amounts than if it came in a big bar. Our refiners create these forms by dripping it, while molten, into a vat of water. Occasionally, unusual shapes form. This is just what happened when we recently received a bag of gold - there were some long, drippy type shapes mixed in with the grain. We thought they were beautiful! These gorgeous earrings are amazingly liquid with an elegant flow that appears to trickle off the ear, and the shapes are reminiscent of Calla Lily flowers. |
